Studying Abroad in South Korea: Course Registration Guide

Note: US facts are based on my university. They may differ at your university.

How to get the classes you want (Yonsei University):

  • Make sure to bid on the most popular classes with the most points possible (Note: You can check the popularity of the course in the catalog under mileage)
  • Don't register for the intensive Korean courses during the first round of registration. Everyone gets into these, so don't waste your points)
  • Plan out courses and back-up courses when course catalog gets released (usually a few weeks before registration begins)
  • As an exchange student, there are specific classes for exchange students. These are very competitive, so try to register for a mixture of study abroad courses and regular courses. Yonsei has a lot of courses in English (especially in political science)

Note: The anthropology department often has one or two courses in English each semester, and it isn't a super popular department so the classes are really easy to get into. Plus the classes and professors are usually really fun.
